If you need Mac based software to manipulate loops you could also try Reason/Recycle.

Reason has loop players you can use to play multiple tracks of loops and manipulate tempo etc. It plays REX loops which are produced by RECYCLE.

Recycle is an editing/DSP manipulation software for preparing loops to be read by Reason or anything else that reads REX files. It will read .wav files, audio files etc. It will also read ACID Loop CD's so you have a BIG library already at your disposal. Both Recycle and Reason can import loops, or groups of loops as a stereo .wav file that can be imported into ProTools, if you don't want to lock Reason up to ProTools.

Reason is less than $300 now, and Recycle is around $150.

I think it depends on whether you're doing blues and rock, metal/thrash, hip-hop, trance/electroinica, jazz, latin, pop/dance or whatever. There are drum loops for all styles.

Recycle 2.0 does a nice job on just about all drum loops, tho'...
