Default Record levels shoot up at start

Just a quick question.

Why is it that every time I record enable a track the levels shoot way up, so far that I'm sure it would go well past the red zone if the meters reached that high?

Thanks

GD

Oh yea!
It happens on phantom powered and non phantom powered mics.
Just every time I record enable a track.

I should say that I am using a Win7 64bit computer.
I don't know if it matters or not.

Yes I do.
It often sounds quite loud do.
It's similar to the sound I sometimes hear when I turn them on only much louder.
I'm using Focal Twin BE 6.

Thanks

Hmmmm 10 years on PT and I have not seen this. I would say

1. Check your wires
2. Make sure nothing is cross wired
3. Make sure I/O is correct
