Hard drive configuration: some help please..
i have three barracuda 7200 1TB hard drives, and need some help configuring them for PT10.
on drive#1 i already have my OS,(Windows7) PT10, and my programs=Superior Drummer, Kontakt 5 and libraries, UAD2, Amplitube and stuff like that. drive#2 i use a different DAW Sonar X2 set up the same, but everything is 64bit. drive#3 is blank. drive#4 (external) blank i have read many times folks have their audio, projects/sessions, and samples on seperate drives. i'm confused as to what goes where and why and how. Can anyone shed some light or post a link, that would get me in the right direction? thanx tal213.

Re: Hard drive configuration: some help please..
Pro Tools wants to be on the system drive...you already have that it looks like.
Pro Tools DOES NOT like to record to the drive that it is on. In other words, do not record to the system drive. Use one of your other 7200 or 10000 RPM drives as your audio drive, your workspace as it were. When recording you do a lot of writing to the drive. The higher RPM is essential to get the audio data written. If you try to record to the system drive, you will trip all over the other writes and reads occurring in the program that is running. Kind of simplistic, but in essence, that is what is happening. You can store loops on other drives, such as your external drive or even on your system drive if you wish....not most efficient but it does work. That help?
