Does Digi 003 work with PT 12.8?

I finally found a firewire 400 to 800 cable and the purchased a firewire 800 to thunderbolt so that I could plug the 003 rack+ into my macbook High Sierra 10.13.1.
When I plug it all in and turn it on, the host light on the 003 doesn't light up. Can't see it in the Sound preferences on the mac or the hardware or playback in protools first.
I've downloaded the latest driver for the 003 from their website and still it didn't work.
I've searched the web but besides this forum there isn't much out there directly resolving this issue...
Any ideas. Perhaps I'm being to general but I don't know to be more specific.
Perhaps it helps that I haven't used the 003 since 2012. Is there some firm ware that needs updating?

What do you mean it doesn’t light up? Does it power up on its own?

I’m running an 002 on Sierra with PT 12.8.3 so there’s no real reason the 003 would work.

Where did you get the cables and adapters? Start troubleshooting with those..

Hi - Apologies in advance for my low-techness. I am old school and miss the days where protools lived on my computer and my digi 003 worked like magic. After a long recording hiatus, I want to get back in the game. With the same old digi 003.

The Mac Pro I used to use with the Digi 003 no longer works, so now I have a 2014 Macbook Pro (2.6 GHz Intel Core i5 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 10.12.6) and am using Pro Tools version 12.8.0.864. I have a Thunderbolt 2 adapter coming out of the laptop into an 800 firewire 400 firewire chord in to the digi 003.

I downloaded the Avid 003 family 11.1.5 and it recognizes that the Hardware is connected, but Pro Tools does not hook up with it, and the display on the 003 is blank when Pro Tools is going.

Any suggestions on how to make these two play nice together would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
