Default Loud Pops at edits(punch points), starting and stopping play

I am running protools LE 7.4 with a Digi002r on a Powerbook G4, 1.5 Ghz, 1 meg of ram.
I am hearing a popping sound when I start or stop playback and also, more annoying, during playback at punch points. I will be buying an external firewire drive but I am currently working off my system drive. Would that cause these pops? Will it be solved when I am no longer playing back from my system drive? Any suggestions for a "portable" firewire drive, 7200 RPM, Oxford Chipset that won't break the bank?

Thanks

DC offset? Wouldn't surprise me with laptop-based setup.

Google it, then try the DC Offset Removal plugin from the Audiosuite menu.

No Luck there with DC Offset plug in. Do you think it will be fixed when I am running off an external hard drive?

You need some ram (memory) first- 2gb minimum.

And then you can add the external drive if you're running lots of audio tracks.
