Why do you have to remove 8.0.4? Antares obviously needed to treat this new version as a separate plug, and so long as they both coexist, just leave them alone.

Besides, once I have a tracks tuned exactly as I want, I ALWAYS render it out anyway. It's a ticking time bomb otherwise. Same with Melodyne. Just too risky to think it'll open up and play back flawlessly in 6 months, a year, on the next version etc. Of course I keep the unrendered track in the session inactive and hidden. This way i am covered both ways and future proof.

You are 100% correct Drew ..., I have put back my 8.04 version so I can open old projects with that.

Heres what Antares tech support had to say about the subject .....,

" Yes! The new version is called 8.1 and will co-install with the previous version 8.0.4 (in your case since you are using Pro Tools 11). The version you were asked to remove was version 8.0.6. 8.0.6 was the problematic one that had a couple of major issues.

We recommend you finish any project using Auto-Tune 8.0.x with this version and then start using Auto-Tune 8.1 exclusively.

Please read the “AAX OS X Read Me” which explains the differences between these two versions in depth. You will find this file here on your MAC:

MacHD/Applications/Antares Audio Technologies/Auto-Tune 8.1 AAX/AAX OS X Read Me "

Antares does not handle this well. Things like these can be a deal breaker in the future. The early versions of AT8 were so buggy, they were unusable. They need to do a better job really, for many of us Auto-Tune is an essential tool.

I keep using Auto-Tune Live exclusively now and stay away from AT8 for now.

I just got an email from them offering a special upgrade price of $99 to AT8 for today only (6/30/15). It appears to be a personalized code I have to enter.

You may want to check your email if you're thinking about upgrading.

I got one too... but c'mon $30 off an already extortionate upgrade price (7>8).

I'd rather get a haircut, (as Avid would prefer)!

That $30 is in line with their previous 1 day only upgrade sales. It's just that the previous upgrade prices were cheaper, so it seemed more like a deal (i.e., going from $99 to $69).
