Plug-in button and prefs

Is there any way to have the plug-in button open the plugin from the selected track instead of "the last open" plug.
I must do this hundreds of times a day in the edit window and every time I have to pop open that long scrolling list of tracks on the plug-in window and find the track I want.

Is there a keystroke to do this?
