Default Hardware Exchange Mbox to Digi002R DAE error -6087

Hello,

Once upon a time I was running Mbox for almost a year with no problems.
Then I decided I needed a few more options.
So I did a hardware exchange through Sweetwater.
Mbox became a Digi002R. Cool.
I went from LE 6.1 to 6.4
Installed an Adaptec 4300 firewire card.

Now I have problems.

When I try to record, it stops after about 2 seconds and says DAE error -6087.
Every, single, time.

I have tried changing playback settings.
I switched back to the Mbox and I had no problems recording. Mbox still works fine.
So the problem seems to be related to the digi002R, and perhaps the firewire.
But that's just a guess.

I have no clue what to try next, other than saying "to hell with it" and staying with the Mbox (I have a time limit to send it in to Digi).

I can't afford a new computer at the moment, so I have to make due with what I've got I need to know how to make it work, not what other gear I should have. I can't accept that my system would work with the Mbox but not the Digi 002R. LE is LE, so why is the Digi002R interface making problems?

Thanks for any feedback,
Nikolai

Studio IMP System Details (am I missing any important bitz?):
AMD Athlon, 1.67GHZ, 512MB Ram, 111GB Main drive, 114GB Audio Drive, Adaptec 4300 firewire card.

Check your IRQ allocation in device manager - make sure your FW4300 is on it's own IRQ - if not switch it to another slot.

Also what Mobo are you using? Do a search here on the make/model and see if there are any compatability issues. While you're there, do a search on the error# in the answerbase as well as here. That may help you hone down the actual problem. Hope that's useful

Cheers, Scott

Thanks Scot, I'll check on the IRQ and Mobo.

One thing I noticed on the compatibility page for the digi002r is that it requires 2.0 GHZ.

The Mbox only requires 1.3GHZ. So that's why I was running mbox with no problems!

Apears I'll have to figure out how to upgrade the processor speed (if I want to keep the didgi002r).

Any suggestions for this from tech savvy types are welcome.

Yours,
Nikolai

PS: Is there an alternate way to identify a motherboard if you can't find the info printed on the board??
