Re: HD native tracking question
Jack, the issue with the Thunderbolt headphone jack has to do with whether an HD interface is hooked up, which in his case it was.
From what I understand, the Thunderbolt box will not even be seen as a sound option in the system unless the HD interface is also hooked up. That's how it is with the PCIe version. Thus, the headphone jack on the Thunderbolt box can not be used when an interface is not also hooked up. It sounds like he had it hooked up. But I don't know if it would cause any additional latency. I would hope not, because it's primarily made to be used for location recording, and it would be extremely irritating to have a delay in that situation as you're hearing both the recorded sound and live sound. But I would be curious to see if he tried it with the Omni's headphone jack and noticed any difference. |

Re: HD native tracking question
I used TDM for a decade (2.4ms - 44.1) I used Metric Halo ULN8 monitoring for 18 months (2.66ms - 44.1 - using internal monitor path) - I have been working with a TB OMNI system for a week or so. Crazy as it seems I am somewhat with the one who hears the latency at 32/44.1/3.2ms and 128/96/3.4ms (FWIW I measured all of these numbers with function generator and scope).
So far though - 96k/64/2.08ms is totally working for me. It is also likely that although I hear the change at 96k/128/3.4ms - I believe I would adjust and can work there as well (implies 44.1/32 is an option but I am all 96kHz this week). Now I am just trying to see if a mac mini is up to staying at this load - so far - mostly --

Re: HD native tracking question
Can you still set a low-latency output path on the HD-Native card in PT11? I mean are you SUPPOSED to be able to? This feature just flat-out doesn't work on my system in PT10. I heard there were problems with it, and I'm curious if that's been fixed in the new software....
