Mbox bounce to disk volume gain problem
I am a new Mbox user.
I am using an Mbox, ProTools 6.2.2, dual 1.8G5 10.3.2 (Panther). When I bounce to disk the output level is way way louder (clipped and buzzy) when the aiff is played back on the computer or played from CD. The levels within Protools look fine (no clipping), and sounds alright when listened through the headphones panel on the MBox with the volume turned all the way up. There are no plugins or filters in the mix (I tried a compressor to see if it would do any good to no avail). I'm only trying to bounce a single stereo track recording of a piano. It was recorded with Mbox settings of 48/24, and it makes no difference whether it is dithered down to 41.1/16. I can't figure out where this apparent gain is coming from. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks! |

Re: Mbox bounce to disk volume gain problem
If you don't have any, add a Master fader and keep it @ -1.0db.
I too have had some bad (over) levels on some bounced tracks. Some tracks were hot and didn't clip while some others seemed low and did clip. And like you I only got the clipping from burned CD, not in PT, QT, SoundApp ,etc... Since I keep the Master fader @ -1.0db, no more problems. Hope this helps
