I'm looking to learn abroad (US (NY) ,UK (London)& Canada (Toronto) pref.)

Can you please suggest good locations for studies. Thanks for any help .

The entire phase.
Recording, Mixing, Editing and as much as I can.

Today I work here in some Post Production for T.V and do some music recordings at home on LE.

But I've never really learned...

Music Theory (Harmony, Counter Point etc...) I've been studied for a while and now I'd like to learn more in sound field.

If you want to study in NYC. There are a lot of options.
First, I'd stay away from SAE. This international school basically has glitz but not real depth. They make you do a significant portion of your training via self-training... I have met a number of their "graduates". I have not, as yet, hired one from SAE.
IAR, IAR is an excellent school for learining the real basics needed to build a solid foundation. They teach Electronics, troubleshooting, audio fundamentals, as well as, hands on time recording & editing. I was over there a few weeks ago on an intern search for my studio, and their new PT labs are nice. IAR Also has a large number of foriegn students, and excellent placement.BUT, the place is a little old. They have been in existance for around 30 years. Needs a bit of paint.
NYU Offers audio courses, good, solid, expensive.
THere are a lot of other schools, but frankly, I haven't seen one ( a we interview interns on a regular basis for a LOT of schools) that really trains you for the real world.

Opinion: I'd go with IAR's 9 month program, then get a solid internship for 6 months at a facility that has interest in training their interns.
OR
Purchase/build a small home studio. Practive on your friends in the music business. Then Pay a local professional to work with you one-on-one for a couple months.

About NYU, I guess this is because I'm a forgien - I've look on the web and havn't find any data of sound engineering. (@NYU)

Home Studio, got nice one ofcourse [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img] , recording as much as I can also some of my creations...

I also been recording here in studios but I'm just starting. (Mostly Jazz)

What I feel missing...
On the computer/DAW I have no problems as I have some background in computer/programming.
Pro Tools, I have no problems mixing/editing/recording on the system and I usually record on TDM and get it to my home-LE for further mixing.
However, so far NEVER record analog (or even touched any analog equip.).
And, electronics, important issue when everything I do eventually goes D/A and becomes electric signal for current technology - Speakers [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img] . I really miss the electric background which I found (I might be wrong) so important.

About internship.
1) I know how it goes here but if you can describe me the requirements at the states (or atleast NY) I'd be graceful.
2) VISA issue. as a foregin I'm on a Student Visa. What is the limits of such as an intern.

I would suggest the summer program at Berklee College of Music in Boston. If you like the summer program, enrole full time. Berklee is also a great place to make contacts.

Yeah, at Berklee we still have plenty of analog gear, a time-honored jazz tradition, and an international student population that's 35 - 40% of total enrollment. Not to mention an amazing program in Music Production and Engineering.

Two things to consider: the five-week summer program is mostly high school-level students. It may not be satisfying for you if your music background is extensive. I'd recommend it more to someone who's just starting to think about the possibility of a career in music. Also, there's no way in such a short period to get any real studio experience.

The other thing to keep in mind is that the Music Technology majors are very popular and as a result do require a separate application after enrolling at the College. It's quite competitve, so you should be prepared to make a strong presentation.

Yep, I wonder about Berklee.

And if anyone can answer about those questions it'll be great:

1. Merging between the 2 passions:
Can I study Sound Enginnering as major and take some musical courses in addition?

2. Because I'm a non-us citizen I come from a different educational system. However, there's a musical (& sound engineering) school here (Rimon) that enables recognition of their studies at Berklee. Can this help me in any sort of way?

We can help you with your visa. Call our studio on Thursday or Friday this week and ask for Florian Hill. He is my studio manager (He's from Germany). He can walk you through all the requirements for a student visa. Additionally, Contact CDS I believe it's www.cdsintl.org we work with tem on a lot of interships for our studio. They support students wishing to intern and study in the US. I can also get you in contact with the placement people at IAR here in NYC. (we get some of our best interns thru IAR)

Yes, Rimon does have a relationship with Berklee. I don't know the details, but I do know that the intent is that students who complete a certified program at another school (and we have several of these relationships internationally) can continue at Berklee with a higher entry level, without taking placement exams. I'd recommend talking to the folks at Rimon directly or contacting Berklee Admissions to learn more.

As far as majoring in Music Production and Engineering (or MP&E, as we call it), you can certainly take music courses at the same time; in fact, you are required to do so for graduation. We have a Diploma program (96 credits) and a Degree program (B. Music, 120 credits), and of this only 30 credits are required in the major field (though you can take more as electives). Our attitude is that we teach musicians to be producers and engineers; you can't skip the first part.

I've had several really good students from Israel over the years.
