Default Re: Yosemite and Mbox 2 Drivers (Good news so far)

Question! I recently upgraded to 10.10.5 a few months ago and my mbox 2 mini obviously wasn't working with the old drivers. I have a usb dock- deleted the drivers and followed the instructions on here downloading the 10.3.3 mbox 2 mini drivers. I'm on the new garageband. Well my mbox 2 mini lit up, my computer and garageband recognized it. Yet when I plugged in my guitar to try to record it wouldn't get any signal even though it recognized my 2 inputs. And yes I tried switching between monitoring and not. Any thoughts??

My MBox 2 is working with Mavericks 10.9.5 with the corresponding driver - after several fruitless trials.

This is what works:

My MBPro came with 10.9.4, and I had to upgrade to 10.9.5 for Dragon Dictate 5.0 to work. Gratefully, both are working well.

Driver 10_3_9_mac_83297_dmg

I am now searching for a PT version that will best work on 10.9.5, since I don't want to get a new interface ($$).

Also need to know how to update my signature!

I couldn't get the MBox2 (2007) to work with PT12 and iMac running El Capitan. I switched to a new interface (UAD Apollo 8), which I'd been planning to do for some time anyway. Not sure if MBox2 will work with PT 12....happy to be proved wrong!

Mbox 2 won't work with El Capitan. For that reason I stayed on Mavericks 10.9.5 where Mbox 2 will record but not play back (for long) - so I'm using the mbpro's headphone output and the MB2 as input. I do need the input for podcasts.

btw, Digi 002 works on Mavericks too (with Garage Band), not sure if will work w/ PT 10-12 though.

Hello

I tried installing the mbox 10.3.3 drivers and ran it on my Mavericks system and it seemed to work just fine. Does anyone know if there is a way to have both the HD Native Thunderbolt system installed and the Mbox drivers installed side by side? Would be nice to be able to switch between whenever needed.

That MBox2 solution looks very attractive (I have one, limping along in Mavericks) --and PT 8

BUT ...

I have a Digi 002 that worked great on Snow Leopard on my old (and dead) MBPro. All it does on Mavericks is send midi signal (I'll have to change my signature below when I find out how)

SO: Is there a similar workaround with Mavericks (or Yosemite or el capitan) and the Digi 002 on PT 8?

Running with a 1 TB SSD... should I just partition and load PT 8 with Snow Leopard (and nothing else) on the music partition?

Why so retro? Well, I don't want to spend $1000 on new PT plus outboard hardware, and my limited projects were doing fine on PT8 and Snow Leopard, on a slower computer.

Please advise if you have any ideas.

Its an quite easy hack,
cause StartupItems are not used anymore in newer versions of OS X,
you simply got to launch the MBox2Service by launchctl :)

Install Instructions:

1. Install 10.3.9 Drivers from here
1. Download "com.digidesign.mbox2.plist" from here
2. Copy "com.digidesign.mbox2.plist" it into "/Library/LaunchAgents"
3. Open terminal and run "sudo chown root:wheel /Library/LaunchAgents/com.digidesign.mbox2.plist" (without quotes)
4. Optional: Open terminal and run "sudo launchctl load /Library/LaunchAgents/com.digidesign.mbox2.plist" (without quotes)
5. Delete "DigidesignLoader" from "/Library/StartupItems"
6. Reboot

So whenever a user logs in Mbox2Service will start and power it up...
Also tried to integrate it in early bootprocess but didnt help cause caused bootlag and sound playback wasnt available even if Mbox2 was powered up...
I tried this solution from reelgirly, along with the optional terminal sudo (what is that for?) an my Mbox2 STILL won't work. I have also tried the 'solutions' (for driver 3.3.) suggested for the Mbox Mini and no joy there either, maybe because mine is a full size Mbox?

I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 on a 2009 MacBook Pro, and I need to use my MBox2 (full-size but not pro version) with Logic Pro 9 (9.1.8).

I have now in my system preferences two Mbox options, one for 'Digidesign Mbox 2 Pro' which does nothing, and another for 'Digidesign Mbox 2', which fails to connect to my Mbox.

All the optional push button lights are working (DI on/off etc), but neither the USB or S/PDIF green lights with come on, no matter how many times i change the USB input. A Logic AU scan shows the Mbox 'MIDI' device as not working.

Any help would be much appreciated!
