Default HDN Core in Early Mac Pro Q's

Ok, I'm gonna grab an HDN card, and an early Mac Pro

Lookin at the MP Quad 2.66's from 2006-2008 which I think are XEONs??

Are there issues with HDN cards in these machines???

Looking for info from someone running one in an older Mac Pro so I know what models are compatible.

Can anyone help????

Also, are there issues with HD9 and 10 running the older Mac Pros???

I'm simply looking to build a 64 I/O setup with a Native Card (And 4 192's or HDIOs with 16 each)

I just don't want to end up with incompatible stuff

Thanx in advance.

REALLY NEED THIS INFO ASAP, since I'll be grabbing stuff Jan 27-29

Default Re: HDN Core in Early Mac Pro Q's

For myself, I'm using HD|N and a 8x8x8 into a 2008 Mac Pro 2.1 (8 core 3 ghz Clovertown), without any problems. I keep seeing guys posting issues that are using the 3.1 Harpertowns so I'm not sure what changed besides the processor.

The drag for me is that there is no dedicated 64 bit kernel. I can still run 64 bit progs but the newer machines do so more efficiently.

I'll probably look very hard at a new MP this year.

Ruuning it on a 3,1. Running smooth so far. On big sessions with lots of plugs need to set the buffer to 512.
