TDM and M-Powered on same PC?
I run TDM 6.7 on Windows XP, but I would like to
buy M-Powered to run on the same PC for testing M-Audio hardware, Is this possible? If not, is there a way to work around to make it work? Maybe log in to Windows XP as a new user?

Re: TDM and M-Powered on same PC?
you can mix LE and MP .. but not TDM .. when you install the HD
version, it will complain that there is a version already installed. i don't know of a workaround for this. jeff ps: why do you wish to do this? ... |

Re: TDM and M-Powered on same PC?
Could you not pop another hard drive in, load another version of xp onto it and install LE. In theory the version of PT's that's associated with each version of xp should ignore the other. May have to unplug the hardware.
Never done it, just a theory. |

Re: TDM and M-Powered on same PC?
I say DON'T DO IT: I saw a similar thing on a PTHD system of a studio I work with; they tried to install LE on an HD3 with PT7 already on (just to update the Mbox firmware... smart guys, isn't it) and not only they didn't make it with the LE install, but made a complete mess of the HD setup, and this was on a G5, so I guess it could only be worse on a Windows machine...since PTHD had really big issues with stability upon session opnening, and reinstalling PT7 wasn't fixing it, the only soultion they found was to wipe the system drive clean and start from scratch (AAAhhhh ) can you belive this??
Hope this helps L.G. |

Re: TDM and M-Powered on same PC?
LOL, I'm not surprised it didn't work. Two dae's et al on the same system drive is just askin' for trouble. I still think that if you have a seperate hard drive with a second install of xp and you boot from that drive, it shouldn't even recognize that you have an HD system. It would probably try to install drivers when you boot up, but I'd just go into the hardware setup and disable 'em.
I know on a mac you can have 2 operating systems (in my case OS9 and OSX) on 2 seperate drives and run 2 deferent versions of PT's with the same hardware. Like I said, I've never done the 2 hardware things, I'm just theorizing ... or is it Hypothisizing If you decide to be crazy enough to try this, be sure to let us know if it works or just melts down. Good Luck, Ter |

Re: TDM and M-Powered on same PC?
I have my OS drive partitioned and have a separate complete installation of windows XP on each partition. When I boot my PC, I have a menu allowing me to choose which OS to boot to. One is set up with my internet, video editing, graphics, general audio and other programs (with the digi drivers for my 001) and the other is totally dedicated to Protools.
This setup has worked flawlessly for me for the last five years. The only catch I see with using LE and TDM on the same PC no matter how you have your drives and operating systems set up is that the TDM hardware would be seen on either OS and could cause problems with LE. You would probably need to disconnect your M-Powered hardware to use TDM too.
