So far I've noticed with VEP 5.

• Hitting spacebar in VEP5 does not start play. This is a known bug.
• Menus and sub menus disappear when held for a couple of seconds.
• Automation of Waves plugs doesn't work.
• I'm noticing some freezing of meters when plug windows are open and you grab a fader to move it.

I've worked solidly for 2 days with it and it opened my old session without any problems.

Please let me know if you get Waves plugs to automate.

So far, VE Pro 5 has been doing great here. The added ability to sync clocking and transport info to the host via a network was my motivation to upgrade.

Pro Mac Quad 2.26 GHz Intel Xenon
Mac OS 10.6.8
17 GB Ram
Magma PE64r
Pro Tools 10 HD (5 pci-x cards)
192 i/o
Apogee Big Ben

Slave PC:
Vision DAW i7
8GB RAM
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

VI's on VE pro 5:
Omnisphere
G-Player-64bit
Kontakt 4
Play 3.0.25 64bit

HONK! alert.... am i right in thinking this audio input plug sends the channel audio to vienna? So could this finally be the solution to stemming on tools, one of these plugs at the end of each insert chain sending over to vienna and then a bidule like multi track recorder plug or similar being used to record the results? wow, that could be worth admission price alone....

How many of these audio input plugs can you have?

Correct, I think it is 16 stereo audio inputs / per instance at least. Can be 32, I´m not in my studio now, but it is plenty. You can also open another VEP instance for more...
yes, you are sending audio from your DAW through network ( or local network ) into VEP. Routing back on a VEP output of your choice.

This one is an OSX specific bug. However, clicking the play button does work in the meantime.

Unfortunately the current MIDI bug which makes Pro Tools 10 really unresponsive for many tasks (at least for Windows users), takes much of the fun to be had with VE Pro 5 away again

Once that bug is fixed: !

I'm loving the Aux outputs for multi-out VI's.... A huge help!

So far so good with VEPro 5... A fabulous upgrade.

I'm having trouble trying to connect my Server Interface (PT10) to my Standalone (VE5), both running on the same Mac. Any clue? Thanks.

You can have up to 127 audio output channels (or 63 stereo pairs) from VE Pro 5 to PT. From 128 on there is no sound! This is a Pro Tools bug (since it's probably RTAS related I don't think we'll see a fix for that ). Here is the link to the VE Pro Forum:http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/t/30340.aspx

The server interface doesn't connect to the standalone. That's not the way it is supposed to work. If you want to use VEP on the same computer as PT, then make sure that "Advertise on Local Network" is checked in the VEP preferences. That way VEP thinks your host computer is a slave and you can connect via the sever interface in the normal way.
