Default BCF2000?

I was wondering how this control surface is working for Pro Tools users?
Does it work with RTAS/AS plugins or does it only control the mixer functions?

I'm in the market for one of these and I haven't found much info on the internet
so far in reguards to using it with Pro Tools. I understand that it works by
running it in HUI emulation mode, but I have no clue as to what the HUI has control
over in PT.

Also, I've heard that the faders are noisey, has anyone found this to be annoying
in any kind of way? Mind you this would'nt turn me off from buying it as it would
still be a great deal for $200. I just don't want the noise to show up on any
tracks I happen to be recording in the same room with a microphone. I could just
turn the automation off while I track if needed ;-)

I would consider just going to a Command 8, but I'm on a budget and I have two projects
that have to be in the can by the end of summer if possible. I love Pro Tools
and someday I will have a C8 to get the best possible control out of it.

thanks!!

Hi, i have one and use it with ptle.

It works by emulating a baby-hui wich uses the hui protocol wich is in turn supported by ptle.

You have control over your transport (play, rewind etc). Rec-arm tracks, pan tracks, use the faders, set send-levels. Up till now i didnt get the control of plugins working.

If its a bit too noisy when recording, simply disconnect it, and mouse for a bit. Then after you recrded your stuff, you could start using it again.

The fact that you then have a controlsurface doesnt mean you MUST use it.

Thanks Bastiaan

I guess I'm gonna go for one in the next week or so. As long as plugins work
with it it should be worth it. Hell just having the functionality you described
should be worth the price. After thinking about it, the noise factor won't be
as much of an issue as I think it will be. It'll be handly to have around for
pretty much any of my outboard gear also.

As much as I want a Command 8, I can't afford one and after looking around at the
options, I think this one is a no-brainer

Plugins work, no problem. You just cant control them with the bcf2000. But i believe that's not a bcf problem or behringer problem. I think i saw some mentioning of that problem when using the baby-hui (wich protocol the bcf2000 is using...)

Yeah I was reading the PDF's on Mackies site last night about it.
Nowehere did it mention the use of plugins with the Baby HUI.
It's probably not that big of a deal if the plugins don't work
with it for me. I'm still considering some options. I think it's
still a good deal even if it only controls the main components
in Pro Tools. And ya never know Behringer might come up with something
specific for PT,although as tight as Digidesign is about things
getting on that list of supported controllers may never happen.

I'm gonna hold out for a little bit and look things over for now.

Hello

If got a Behringer BFC2000 and Pro tools M-powered with a Audiophile Firewire..
I have updated the BFC so it can work in the baby HUI mode..
It should work now with PT M-powered. In the Pref. Pt sees the controler and all seems to be fine.
Only after a moment always the same error dissapears.
Pro Tools can not make contact with the contoler. Check cables etc etc..
Sometimes it works for a moment.
Can anybody help me.. What Am I doing wrong?
Greets from holland.
