Default BFD2 and Protools.

Alrighty so here it is. I bought BFD2 and I wrote midi to it and all that, it works nice and functions well. Now, I recorded bass and whenever the bass plays and BFD2 at the same time, the snare (and only the snare) pans to the left and everything else stops playing. No kick, no OH's, no room etc..

I have NO Idea what to do.

When you say you recorded bass do you mean you recorded a bass guitar you played or something from a vi? If a vi are you using PT Instrument tracks? If so and BFD2 and the bass vi are on separate Instrument tracks you shouldn't have issues. If you're using MIDI tracks for the notes and hosting the vi on an aux track watch your MIDI assignments.

Really need more info on exactly what you are doing or trying to do. Completely describe the PT session setup. Also your computer operating system.

I have a I7 iMac with 16gbs of Ram and 500gigs of Harddrive (not SSD) and I have a mackie onyx 1640i going directly in protools via firewire.

I have BFD2 loaded as an instrument track and the output is going to Output 1-2 (master) and then I recorded a bass track with my fender jazz going thru my sansamp RBI and then compressor thru channel 2 of my mackie onyx 1640i going in to protools. Its a real track not an instrument track or midi track. Now, when I click play with BFD2 alone, (bass track muted or BFD2 solo'd, doesn't matter it seems) it plays fine. But when I un-mute the bass track or un-solo BFD2, I only get the snare playing. All the other drums and OH and ROOM channels stop playing and I get the dry snare drum only. Weird huh?? Maybe i have to do multiout on BFD2?? I have no idea.

Create a new session with just BFD2 on an Instrument track and hand draw in some MIDI notes and routed to your normal output. Check the BFD2 mixer to make sure your audio outs are all going to the master BFD2 output. Create an empty Audio track also routed to your normal output. Play the session and try muting/unmuting the blank audio track. Unless you have some weird solo thing going on you shouldn't have these kinds of issues. Muting/unmuting/soloing an audio track should have nothing to do with what BFD2 outputs.

I'm thinking you have something else going on you're not telling me about. What version of OSX are you running PT10 on? Remember that Mavericks is not qualified to run PT10 any version and likely will never be qualified.

I'm afraid there is no such thing as "... going in to protools." You have to create things and assign things, and you assign those things to some very specific locations.

From your description, it appears that you created an Instrument track and used some sort of MIDI controller to create a MIDI drum track in BFD.

What next?

Did you create an audio track? Mono or stereo...it should be mono.

Have you set up the I/O in Pro Tools? If not, you need to go into Hardware Setup, then go to each tab on the dialog and click the Default button. You have to do this on every tab.

On your audio track, what I/O did you select?

Are you sure that only the bass track was Record Enabled?

And supply the stuff everyone else asked for...we can't do anything without certain information...
