Default HEAT Vs Slate VCC

I am very interested in the newest wave of "virtual consoles". Hopefully it will not be much longer until Slate Digital releases their VCC to compare it to HEAT. These are exciting times in the digital realm.

i was curious about the Slate VCC as well i think it is available .

i would love to have HEAT.

here is my big problem.

i am Running a MAC G5 still 7.2 on Tiger

i would have to spend a chunk of cash on a Mac Pro to have Snow Leopard and then still have to upgrade to 8.1 PT.

i dont know if it is worth it at this point and time for me.

at least for now anyways.

Love Decapitator, but a different animal, much more extreme, and it is a DSP hog. . .

Over on Gearslutz, Steven Slate just posted new audio examples of the RUP (Neve) console settings. Very cool.

Personally I am leaning to Slate VCC over heat. . . . 1. it cost less 2. if it is anything like all the other products I own fro Slate I know it is going to be awesome!! 3. I will be able to use it in other DAW's besides Pro Tools. 4. I have been long toying with the idea of mixing out of the box and I think Slate VCC will quickly squash that idea :)

Thanks nst7 for giving me a head up that Slate posted new audio examples. . . . . I am awaiting their release of this plug in with baited breath.

Is the Slate VCC integrated the way HEAT is in PT as a mixer plug, not just as a regular plug-in?

I think Heat's type of integration is way cool and important for good overall sound with a console emulation. Just another plug on every track is not what I want to add to my rig. I've been down the McDSP AC road and back, and also with Phoenix and Reel Tape.

I really like the way HEAT colors the tracks before anything else, that is if your recorded levels are in the digi "Sweet spot".

Also, does using HEAT mean I should de-activate the analog effect that is in a lot of my waves plugs? Too much added harmonic stuff makes the track start to SCREAM.

It's so funny at this day and age we all want to add more noise and distortion! LOL!

There was a discussion on the duc maybe a year ago about how pt "sounds". I searched but sorry I couldn't find it... Digitech chimed in to say PT has has a amplitude where the mixer sounds best. Maybe it was in the "yellow is the new red" thread?

I dare to tell! It is when the meter never hits yellow!
