Question How does one de-authorize a new ilok..

Any help would be greatly appreciate..
I mailed of a new ilok to a friend in the US with Protools 7.2 on it, and we just want to move the account onto his new ilok account but can not for the life of use see where the “remove” link is. He currently has the ilok, can you please explain what we are missing, and the way to do this. Seems simple, but the only apparent way they want it is to spend the 25.00 but we are in the 7 day grace free period!!
Thanks

As I recall, the iLok has to be empty to remove it from an account. There is a way to transfer everything without the $25 fee, but it involves buying a new iLok, transferring all of the licenses to it, and then have him register it to his account. Then you can remove your iLok from your account within the 7 days. If he already has the iLok key and you are only dealing with one license then it's cheaper to just pay the $25 and do a simple license transfer. The method I described comes in very handy if there are a lot of licenses to be transferred when you consider a $25/license transfer-fee for each one. I just did this recently, but may have missed something here.

I had purchase a new ilok, transferred PT7 onto it, and mailed it out to him
and we are within the 7 days grace period...

ilok technical states"

If the iLok in question is blank, contains demo licenses only, or is
still within its one-week grace period it can be removed from an account via
the "Remove" link to the right of the iLok's listing. Again, some of your
licenses may require the approval of the software vendor prior to the removal
request going through.

He opens a new account, and puts the ilok into his computer, it should then be transferrable apparently!!

Put the ilok in.

Move the liscence to an existing iLok registered to the account

EJECT the now empty iLok. I suspect a terminalology has been changed from REMOVE.

So does anyone know which manufacturers will not let you transfer their licenses to another account??
I am about to transfer my entire iLok key to a different account but it does include some Waves Plugins!
The rest is mostly Digi stuff and McDSP.

WAVES won't even let you transfer licenses to another iLok you own. If it's on the iLok, it STAYS on the iLok.

I don't believe this is true any longer with Waves 7 (and maybe even at some point with Waves 6). You can now move Waves assets around. I'm almost positive of this.

You can move Waves licenses around freely in your own iLok.com account. This applies to V6 and V7.

OK, I didn't know that. We've got 5.97 on all of our PTHD rigs and, of course, I've never read anything from WAVES saying that you CAN move them. That's good news!
