Default OB-Xa V from Arturia

Arturia just dropped a new synth - their version of the Oberheim OB-Xa synth. Used by Van Halen on 'Jump', also Prince, Queen, Bon Jovi and others. $199 but $49 if you already own Arturia stuff. At least that's my price because I have V Collection 7. Here's the product page https://www.arturia.com/products/ana...-xa-v/overview

Think I'm going to grab it.

Drool! The demo sounds pretty spot-on, and its way cheaper than the real thing

Grabbed it as at $49 I couldn't resist. Didn't even bother to see if Audio Deluxe had it or not. Don't know if this is going to ever become part of the V Collection and there's been no update to Analog Lab to include it. At least as I write there's no such update. Installation went just fine from their Support Center s/w.

I only owned one Arturia plugin, so for me it's $99.

That's still not bad considering the price if you own zero Arturia plugins. I've got VC7, Pigments and a few others.

Arturia says this is their most requested synth and I don't doubt it. I wouldn't mind seeing a Rhodes Piano Bass keyboard though

Looks good and sounds great!

I'm not in a rush to buy individual plugins though. At some point they will bundle them up and offer real value for money.

Do you own any Arturia plugins? Waiting for a bundle that may not happen is a false premise. They may not even include the new synth in a bundle. After all Pigments is not in the V Collection bundle.

Has anyone compared this to "Oberhausen" from Plugin Alliance?

They're two totally different synths with different sounds and architectures so that comparison would be the proverbial apples to oranges. This goes for both the hardware and the vi's.

But to your question: I demo'd Oberhausen when it dropped and found it nothing special, especially given issues with MIDI learn that for the way I work were a non-starter. But from what I remember of the sound - refer to the above paragraph.

Yes I have V Collection 6.

Granted, they might not bundle up any products but then again they might. If they do, bundles are usually the most cost effective way to buy products. I'm not in a rush. I have plenty of stuff to be getting into so I'll wait and see what develops.
