Input button not working on all tracks

Hello,

I'm pretty new to Pro Tools, so I'd really appreciate some help. For some reason sometimes the input selection button for all the tracks just stops working. I click on it and nothing happens. The output button still works as expected.

Sometimes after restarting PT it does work again, but now, on my template session that I've been copying from Logic it doesn't-t work, even after a restart, so I can't change any inputs.

Is there a setting or a keystroke that I might accidentally pressed that could cause this behaviour?

Please, if anyone knows, help me out, this is driving me crazy...

OK, so first, you're not talking about the "Input" button, you're talking about the input selector pull-down menu in the I/O pane of the track, yes? Since it's not possible to "transfer" a template from Logic, not sure what you're doing there.

To the actual problem: Have you checked your I/O Setup (Setup->I/O) to make sure that any inputs are in fact available in your session?

Hi Rich, thanks for the post. And yes, I am talking about the input selection menu. I said button because it kinda looks like a button, but you’re right, it’s a menu. It just happens that I press it and absolutely nothing happens.

As for the template thing, I should have been clearer, when I said transfer I meant I was copying it, track by track, rebuilding it on Pro Tools from scratch.

Meanwhile I trashed the preferences and now with the same exact session file the input menu is working again, so it seems it’s a bug.

I’m still wondering if it’s common, if it has happened to anyone? Since I’m pretty green on Pro Tools, I was wondering if there’s any key command or something I might have done that locks the input menu, maybe for security purposes in order not to change anything by accident.

Hitting default on i/o setup is pretty common thing to do in case you mess up things and want to start afresh

Since you're new to this, be aware of some other things that may pop up. Those buttons for MUTE, INPUT, RECORD and SOLO can be optioned to be inactive(and this can happen by accident, even for a seasoned pro), so if any of those buttons appears grey, then you can reset them with the proper command+click(on Windows, its Ctrl+click, not sure on Mac, but just try all as you will need to learn these commands anyway)

Not a bug - as I and others have pointed out, your I/O settings were cleared - trashing prefs restored them, but easier to go to the I/O setup menu and fix it there.

However, I really don't think it had anything to do with the IO setup. I checked it and everything looked right, ins, outs and buses. Moreover, when I restarted Pro Tools things started working again until after a while it stopped working again. I can't be sure, but it really seemed to me like something was wrong.
