Default Pro Tools TDM 6.9.3cs2 Update

Update: November 9, 2005
Due to the problems listed below from the Pro Tools TDM 6.9.3cs3 Read Me, we no longer recommend Pro Tools TDM 6.9.3cs2.
Please use Pro Tools TDM 6.9.3cs3 instead.

Index of Pro Tools CS Releases:
http://www.digidesign.com/download/cs/

In addition to all previous fixes, Pro Tools TDM 6.9.3cs3 for Windows XP contains the following:

Fixed: ICON Talkback Levels Either Too Low Or Too High (Item #69605)
This was a result of the XMON internal talkback mic gain range being too narrow.

Fixed: Using Audio Pull-Down May Cause Problems When Using Remote Mode (Item # 70021)
Lock times could increase, and it was possible to have a sync error of 1 frame

Fixed: Pro Tools 6.9.3cs2 on Win XP causes Media Station 1.6.1 not to be able to find audio hardware (Item #70295)
This problem was introduced in 6.9.3cs2. NOTE – if you have previously installed Pro Tools 6.9.3cs2, you must uninstall it, re-install Pro Tools 6.9.1 or 6.9.3, and then run the 6.9.3cs3 installer.

Fixed: No Option Available For ASIO or Wavedriver (Item #70298)
This problem was introduced in 6.9.3cs2. NOTE – if you have previously installed Pro Tools 6.9.3cs2, you must uninstall it, re-install Pro Tools 6.9.1 or 6.9.3, and then run the 6.9.3cs3 installer.

Update: October 10, 2005
A new installer has been posted. If you downloaded the previous installer from September, please delete it and download the new version posted today.

September 23, 2005 Support Alert - Pro Tools 6.9.3cs2 for Windows XP Currently Not Available

We have confirmed that there are installation problems (as reported by users on this thread) on some computers with the Pro Tools 6.9.3cs2 for Windows XP installer originally posted on September 20, 2005. A new version of Pro Tools TDM 6.9.3cs2 will be posted as soon as these installer issues are resolved.

Here is the original announcement from September 20, 2005:

Pro Tools TDM 6.9.x CS Updates

The following Pro Tools CS (Customer Support) releases are now available.
Please see the individual update pages for complete details. Index of Pro Tools CS Releases:
http://www.digidesign.com/download/cs/

In addition to all previous fixes, Pro Tools TDM 6.9.3cs2 for Windows XP, Pro Tools TDM 6.9.3cs2 for Mac OS X 10.4, and Pro Tools TDM 6.9.1cs3 for Mac OS X 10.3 all contain the following fixes:

Fixed: Inconsistent Lock Times or Intermittent Locks When Syncing to Time Code (Item #65348, 68657, 53450)
  • Lock times could vary from short, to very long, or no lock at all until you stopped the code and tried again. Also, record passes could result in "missed sync point" or -6085 errors, or "missed the sync point, due to time spend allocating disk space," while play passes could result in "waiting for sync" or "waiting for sync point."
Fixed: Pro Tools Could Crash When Closing the Hardware Setup Window (Item #67845)
  • This could occur when opening and closing the Hardware Setup dialog when D-Control was online, and a track has focused EQ and DYN plug-ins
Fixed: When Using Long Delay Compensation, the Pro Tools Mixer Could Create a Feedback Loop in Certain Situations (Item #67728)
  • With large mixers, Feedback could occur across channels with buses assigned as inputs. This did not occur when using short delay compensation or no delay compensation.
Fixed: When Using Delay Compensation, Some Mixer Paths Might Not Be Compensated Properly (Item #65626)
  • This could occur in some large sessions when a single surround mixer was required to span multiple DSPs
Fixed: When Importing AAFs from Avid, Parsing Errors and Missed Translations on Some Tracks May Occur (Item #65232)
  • An AAF from Media Composer Adrenaline 2.1.x, Xpress Pro 5.1.x, News Cutter Adrenaline & News Cutter XP 6.1.x may give parsing errors when imported into Pro Tools and some tracks may not translate correctly. In addition to this fix, Digidesign recommends that Avid users update to the latest version available.
Notes:
Pro Tools LE 6.9.x CS updates were also posted for Mac OS X 10.3, Mac OS X 10.4, and Windows XP.

I ran the update and restarted. Now Protools can not be started. I get an error screen with an access violation and Protools disappears after I hit the "ok" box. Anyone else have a problem with this update? (I updated from 6.9.3cs1)

Have either of you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Pro Tools and the update?

I can confirm having the same problem with the access violation as the previous posters. Uninstalled and reinstalled 6.9.1, opened Pro Tools 6.9.1 all OK. Then upgraded to 6.9.3cs2 and access violation returned on opening Pro Tools as described. Uninstalled and reinstalled 6.9.1, then went to 6.9.3cs1 and Pro Tools running OK. Naughty 6.9.3cs2!

I just got this too. Do I have to reinstall from 6.4?
Peace,
Brandon

Just confirming here that a re-install (6.4 > 6.9 > 6.9.3cs2) produces the same problem.

HI All,
Why do the PT installers for windows have so many problems? Digi, I'd like this update as soon as you can get the current installer to work. Then, I think it would be a good idea to figure out a better way to install a current version without installing older version first and uninstalling it.
Peace,
Brandon

I can confirm this issue, installed it over 6.9.3cs1. Had the issue on two identical systems (HP xw8200/ HD3 and V10) Digidesign Support also recreated the issue. Digidesign US has been notified about the issue. Just sit tight and revert to 6.9.3cs1 for now', would've loved the timecode update though
