I'm a newbie myself and you probably already know this, but just in case: you can do File/Bounce to Disk and then save it as a .wav. (Use Stereo, 16, 44100 for the settings.) You can also save out mp3's, wma's, etc. You won't be able to play it on a regular CD player but you will be able to play it on a portable that way.

I'll be curious though to see what the veterans say to answer your q directly...

Welcome new bees.

Bounce to disk a 16/44.1 stereo interleaved wav then use a program like Nero to burn it to disk.

You might want to master the stereo wav a little to bring the levels up, but that's a topic for another discussion.

tnbobaloo, for a finished product, there's really a lot more to it than that, as I mentioned about mastering, but for a quick and dirty listen to the mix in the car type thing, it will work in a pinch.

Yep, I'm down in Lakeridge (woodbridge/hoodbridge) VA.
There's a bunch of us from DC Metro on here; we should have a get together... or something.
