Default Distortion??

While working in LOgic audio or Pro Tools sometimes the playing audio seems to distort, it sounds a bit like a L1 maximizer "going crazy". Sometimes it helps when I set the volume fader in the sound-control panel a little lower. Quite strange though and I was wondering if there are any digi001 users to whom this problem also occured?
