What is in the recording/session and how do you know how loud this should be?

What are the track meters doing? what is the output master fader meter showing? (what readings)

What does "output strength" mean? I guess you mean "output sound".

Define "low volume"... compared to what?

Do things work at a higher volume if you use an external interface and monitors or headphones?

Common mistakes would be just having the built-in output volume set low, having the faders and master faders set too low, or having low level signals like dry guitar recordings that need an amp plugin to get decent levels.

Because i see levels in the output master bus at normal level, everything else that plays out my computer from iTunes to youtube is at an acceptable level but pro tools is veery low, probably 30db lower.

Yes

I know pro Tools pretty well, have been using it since the beginning. The session plays fine on my HD rig.

Thanks, Mark

It is hard to see what is wrong here. What happens if you use Built-In Output instead of the aggregate device as the Playback Engine?

30dB lower... well I have managed to screw up things like that with hearing output from headphones laying in a desk instead of speakers being used. But that does not explain why iTunes is normal volume.
