Default fw 800 into fw 400

I'm putting together a PT Le 7.1 system, consisting of a macbook with an mbox2 mini. Does anyone know of any issues related to using an external FW 800 plugged into the macbooks FW 400 port? I've been told that it will simply run @ the slower speed, but I would just like to check with any one's experience or knowledge. I have 2 Lacie 800's, and if I can use one of them, instead of having to buy a 3rd FW 400 specific HD, it would be great.
