4 channel recording from Sound Devices 744, unreadable by PT
Hey,
Anyone ever run across this? Did a recording of a live show last night and recorded 4 channels of 24 bit, 48k, .wav that run 1 hour and 1 hr 15 min, respectively. I can open up earlier takes from the day that have all the same settings. The files that are larger (2 gigs) will not open, PT says they're unreadable. How can I get these into a session? Everything plays back fine if I open in Quicktime, so material is there, not sure why I can't import them. Thanks for any help. System info: 7.4 HD G5 PowerPC OSX 10.4.11 |

I believe Protools is still limited to a 2GB file size.

I believe Pro Tools 8 and later can deal with 3.2-ish GB files ok.

You have to split them into individual mono files,
Sound Devices give you the right tool : Wave Agent, free, Can split into mono, split to 2 gig files, and keep all the metadata |
