According to Avid Windows Update 1809 is not supported.

I’m however troubleshooting a PT 2018.12 HDX Omni system running on supported HP z420 cpu Win 10 with Win update 1803 - constantly throwing AAE -9171 errors.

Clean install from late March - my next step will probably be to go back to whatever version of PT and Win 10 that I used back then …

Any advice appreciated.

AFAIK, W10 Pro natively allows you to delay updates. Using Group Policy Editor, again, AFAIK, I have completely shut off any Windows Updates. You have to Disable the Service. If it's Enabled, then you put in the delay. Try this link. Or search for how to do it.

Thanks for the help guys.

I've done all the tweaks in Win 10 Pro and image with Acronis regularly and always before any updates. I usually wait before installing any major Windows updates and 1703 was pretty stable. 1803 seems fine so far, I think I'll stay put, at least until Avid qualifies 1809.

My biggest gripe on Windows updates (besides having to reset USB power management) is how frequently they overwrite my Matrox graphics driver and install some cheap crappy generic VGA driver, and I have to spend 30 minutes reinstalling the Matrox drivers, and reconfiguring my 4 monitors. Yes, I do have the latest MATROX drivers.

1809 comes with dark mode for folder windows! I will try it tonight.

Hi, did you resolve the issues? Is this a Xeon w-2145 cpu and C422 chipset? Nvidia quadro p2000?
I'm asking as I have the same 9171 issues with this configuration and don’t know how to resolve this.
