Are the Mac Pro Mid 2010 Westmere 6 or 12 core ok with HDX and HD 12.5??

These are better than the trash cans. No need for chassis and can easily add tons of options.

Go for it. I have a 12 Core - 2012 - 3.46 GHz. It's a monster and I am going to stay for a long time!!!

I already have a Nehalem 2,8GHz quad core! Maybe do you think I have to try to install the HDX card and HD 12.5 on this computer?

Yes it was my setup before I upgraded the box to 3.46 12 core.
You could start with upgrading the system drive with an SSD HD.

Makes not too much sense in terms of performance, since the 2010 Mac Pro comes only with SATA2. That means that you lose half of the possible performance of a SATA3 SSD because of data-bus limitations.

I tried that myself and my Mac Pro behaved even slower with a SSD.

Apart from that the mid 2010 Mac Pro is a wonderful machine.

...with that said, using all of the SATA2 bandwidth is better than suffering from 7200rpm HDD speed
