Midi in Pro Tool 12 2018

Hello Everyone,

I've just started using Pro Tools 12 2018.

Will PT 12 recognise dynamics and articulation in a midi file?

I'm getting the feeling it does not, but I'm not even sure that information is in the midi file, and if midi actually holds information for dynamics and articulation because it does not seem to.

It looks like the only thing you get with midi is the notes, but am I wrong?

Hi,

As it is not recognising the dynamics or articulation in my midi files imported from Sibelius into P T 12, I wonder what I am doing wrong?

Should I be opening a midi file in PT 12 and not importing as it is with DAWs like Mixcraft?

Any help would be appreciated.

If by dynamics you mean velocity response it's not up to PT as that's dependent on what vi and what library in said vi that you are using. And the velocity curve of the sampler in use.

Not sure what you mean by articulation but if you mean staccato/legato again that depends on what I wrote above. When you open or import a MIDI file into PT you have several options that are shown in a little response windowlet.
