Default Pro Tool 12 Score Editor

Hello Everyone,

I was just reading that PT12 has a very similar score editor to Sibelius, is this true and can I compose in PT12 Score Editor like one does in Sibelius?

Cheers

Rob

Yes it is “similar”

Well in my experience no, not really. Sibelius or Sibelius | First will give you many more composing tools.

I’ll use the score editor to create quick and dirty lead sheets, to tweak a midi performance, (because spot and dots makes more sense to me) and to export to Sibelius to polish or flesh out a musical idea.

But that’s just me.

Did it get any better with the recent midi-editing improvements? (I'm still rocking 12.5.2.)

thanks

Hi All,

Thanks for the replies.

Can you open a Sibelius file .sib, in Pro Tool 12, or do you bring in the midi file?

Just on midi, how does PT12 handle midi?

Don't laugh, but I'm using Mixcraft 8, and is not handling midi well at all. It will not bring in panning or dynamic settings from my Sibelius midi files.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

I wish Avid would embrace music XML bothways (Import-export)

Yes, even the people at Mixcraft tell me that Music xml will solve all those midi issue.

Maybe one day.

No, you have to import midi OR, export audio from Sibelius and import that.

If you mean importing midi, I find it works well for my needs. It also depends upon what instrument(s) you are using, EWSO, UVI, etc.
