Default Delayed output when recording...HELP

When a track is in record ready I speak into the mic and I hear my voicd delayed by about 350 ms.
I am a Mac TDM user but am trying to work this out for a friend on PC.
Dell PC with 128 mb, 650 mhz, 40gig hd
Thanks

Try this solution from our friend jamer:

A simple solution to latency when overdubbing is as follows. When recording, swith your output to an unused bus, this sends the playback nowhere and eliminates the "echo" effect on both the monitor signal and the record siginal. I discovered this after hours of trying various combinations and after reading through all the related comments in the conference. I am using PTFree through a SounbBlaster card and running a high sample rate, I found that low sample rates would cause errors.

You may also want to check your hardware setup configuration. The Quick start guide to PT Free suggests for recording, use low sample rates, especially for fast transient instruments(and I would assume voice would fall under that category as well). The manual suggests setting your buffer to 128-256 samples. The 128 reduces latency to 2.9 ms which should be acceptable for monitoring.
Good luck!
