MIDI seq in PE 8,to triger Roland module?
I'm using Pro tools 8, 002 rack, Command 8, PC, Focusrite 220,mic's,etc. I have sequenced midi using Edirol controler, set up ; MIDI out from controler in MIDI of the 002 Rack. Now, how do I get that sequence already set up in Pro tools, to trigger violin sounds from the Roland xv 5050?
Thanks |

DIN cable MIDI Out 002R to MIDI In XV-5050. TRS cable XV-5050 Audio Out to 002R Line Level In. Session channel assignment should mirror physical routing.

Re: MIDI seq in PE 8,to triger Roland module?
Thanks for your quick response.
MIDI sequence triggers Roland sounds. Set up an AUX track with insert from the 002 rack, i.e. I/O 5-6. Then set up an Audio track with Bus from the Aux track, so I can record the audio from the Aux track. What am I doing wrong or duplicating. It takes 3 tracks to record? I tried recordind the part and it looks like a weird waveform! Also, I'm getting a delay or lag time between midi trigger and audio. Therefore it is off slighlty with the track timing. HELP! Thanks |

Reduce the Hardware Buffer Size. 128 Samples.

Tried the 128, no change. Maybe the delay on the audio, to kick in ? I do not think so. Will try.
thanks anyway. |

Re: MIDI seq in PE 8,to triger Roland module?
You are going to get latency, just record and realign the audio.

Re: MIDI seq in PE 8,to triger Roland module?
Strange! I do not have any latency with plug in, ie X pand. The latency, with this MIDI set up, is quite noticable. Especialy when there are quick hits from the trigger.
So, in retrospect, if this is the case, latency, why go through this process? Now, I have to also slice and dice the audio? What I'm asking, is this the best solution? I have quantatised my MIDi sequence, volume good, etc. Now I have to re do it?Work on it again? And if it was a drum pattern, same problem? You know what I mean! You think it is the Roland?Would digital out from the Roland make a difference? Thanks, you have been a great help. Sorry for the many questions. |

It's an external sound module, try MIDI Track Offset.

Re: MIDI seq in PE 8,to triger Roland module?
No no good. Here is how I have routed the flow.
1) MIDI Channel I/O; Digi 002 Port 1, all channels; Out; Digi 002 Port 1 Emulated 2) Aux Channel I/O; Ch 3-4, Out ; Buss 13-14 3) Audio Channel I/O; 13-14, Out ; A1-2 (Master). Playback Engine: H/W 256. Host Processor: 4, CPU: 90% I tried it again, same problem. Still a delay. Comes in slightly late. Any other suggestions? Why do I have "emulated" showing? Is that the norm? Any suggestions? Thanks |

Re: MIDI seq in PE 8,to triger Roland module?
Yes that is normal. Try MIDI Beat Clock adding the sample offset in negative values.
