Default Unable to open old project files in PT 8.0.5

Hello good people of the DUC.

I'm going through my archives, and I have lots of old project files that won't open on my current system. They were all created on my old PC, using Pro Tools 6.4 on a Digi 001. I am currently using PT 8.0.5 with a 3rd generation Mbox, on a PC running Windows 7 64bit.

PT is telling me that "the current playback engine does not support a sample rate of 44.1 khz" when I try to open the projects, and then quits loading. I've googled this message, as well as searching the DUC, but so far the search has been fruitless.

I've tried looking at the hardware/playback engine settings in PT, but there's nothing I can change that makes any difference.

Does anyone have a clue what to do, or tips for workarounds of any kind? I'd greatly appreciate any help.
