Control surface vs mouse???
Thinking about getting either and mc control or an mc mix. I don't really need alot a faders so leaning towards the mc control.
Main concern is my desk space is really limited and without a demo unit I'm a bit in the dark as to how much this unti will replace/add to the keyboard and mouse. Any advice of feedback from users would be super helpful before I plunge into the new world. Thanks in advance people! |

Re: Control surface vs mouse???
Well, if you don't need faders that much I can only tell you that the unit I use the most (in Pro Tools, Logic, Safari,Mail and Youtube) is Transport!
You can program it much more extensively then you think at first. (Got MC Mix already and planing to buy a MC Control this week).

Re: Control surface vs mouse???
My thoughts exactly (that is before I started using it). Try it out is all I can say. It's the unit where Application awareness really start to mean something - I'm surprised myself that I use it all the time...
You understand that you can put long chains of keycommands on the memory buttons? So it's a LOT of mouseclicks on one button.

Re: Control surface vs mouse???
Yeah, I know that. But that's what Quickeys is for. And it's a whole lot cheaper.
That's why I didn't buy the MC Control. Essentially the touchscreen only does (more or less), what Quickeys can do for you. It's the possibility of macros, that makes the MC Control attractive. But I wouldn't want to invest 1500$ for something, a small piece of software can give me as well.

You can get the mc control from BSW for 831.00 right now.

Re: Control surface vs mouse???
Anyone have both of the units so as to compare one to the other? Control vs mix.

Re: Control surface vs mouse???
Hi,
I own both units, and cannot possibly mix music without them. I could see if you are a TV or radio post editor how this type of controller might be unnecessary. But for mixing music, there really is no comparison between faders under your fingers, eyes closed, and mixing with your ears only! Cheers |

As to a comparison, what is it that one could compare? One has a touchscreen for accessing edit commands, and the other does not. They both do a great job of controlling PT, accessing plug in parameters and any other automatable feature of PT. Cheers |

Re: Control surface vs mouse???
Is that v. 2? You can find v. 1 units for a lot less right now...
