Default Missing different Play and Record fader levels

Coming from pt 10 to 2020.3 not all preferences are the same...
I can´t find the feature where you can have different fader levels when rec armed and play mode...
I found the link check box in preferences but it still doesn´t work.
So when adjusting the rec listening level I also change the fader in play mode.

You have to UNcheck that Preference. AFAIK, it's never changed and I've been using PT since 5.x.

Yes, it is working now.
Don´t know if I had to restart Pro Tools or something.

Still issues with this.
Rec and play faders are always linked even if I uncheck...

So one obvious suggestion when anything related to preferences is not working is to trash prefs. Use Peter Gates PT Prefs Utility and trash everything. http://petegates.com/pg-pt-prefs.html

Also try starting with a empty test session, add one track and and see if it will spit faders correctly or not.

I am running 2020.3 on Mojave and split faders works fine for me. If this was affecting other users I expect you would have a lot of people screaming about it here.

I wouldn't trash AAE Prefs since doing so will reset I/O settings, or if going to this extreme be sure to have I/Os (all tabs) properly labeled BEFORE deleting this pref so they can be recreated. We've been screwed more than twice by losing I/Os in this way and that machine had complex parameters so getting everything back was a headache.

Why not Export your I/O settings and then Import them?

^^^ all good advice. It all depends on what you are doing. For many or us it's trivial to rebuilt IO or just take the defaults. We should all reach for trashing prefs when there is weirdness, and be ready with whatever we need to do to safely do that for our environment.

And the wonderful PTPrefs lets you easily backup and restore prefs, so you can quickly just trash stuff and if it causes more problems just restore the prefs.

Oooh and yay PTPrefs 1.7.3 brings back plugin version checking (much better than my crappy scripts) thanks Pete

I am curious to hear if trashing prefs fixes this problem or not.

Precisely. That's what we do, but there have been two times where we mistakenly deleted the settings and there was no backup, requiring a rebuild. With so many customized parameters, it's a pain. We have screenshots, but, again, it was frustrating because it was entirely unnecessary.

In any event, I think if you're going to recommend to someone that they delete *all* prefs you must also mention that they first backup certain things, like I/Os. It's not immediately obvious to some people what exactly is being deleted.
