Well, the recording computer again.
I'm still trying to find the right computer for me to use in recording. I want a computer thatðs very dureble. I don't mind upgrading once in a while, but I would wan't it to work well for Pro Tools HD systems aswell, because maybe someday I will afford one of those . Well I found a pretty good deal here i think;
Case: ATT Dragon 3 LX Processor: Athlon 64 3500+ 90nm S939 1600FSB & HyperTransport Motherboard: MSI K8N NEO4 F - AMD64, S939 nForce4 Memory: 1GB DUAL DDR400, Corsair HDD: 250GB SATA Western Digital 7200RPM, 8MB buffer DVD-drive: DVD writer @ NEC 16xDVD+/- DL writer 40x CD & DVD drive Soundcard: 8channel Dolby Digital 7.1 Graphic card: MSI Geforce NX6600 256MB PCI Express, DVI, TV out Netcard: Innbyggt 10/100/1000 Inputs: 8 SATA tengi(4 Sata2-300), serial, parellel, 10xUSB2, firewire etc. Powersupply: Öflugur 410 Watt Chieftec Well maybe somethings of these sound strange because I dubbed it from Icelandic :P. But the point is I get this for little money and maybe i'll change some parts of this. I was also wondering, would it be a better solution to buy a Powermac G5 (quite expensive :S)? Well any sugestions of what whould be better or what of this I can inproove by a simple change of hardwhere is very welcome. |

Re: Well, the recording computer again.
Go read the first page of the "Best PC" thread. That system kicks butt over the G5 at a lot less money and has no compatibilty issues. If you go to HD in the future, you will probably want to change out the mobo and cpu for the P4/intel board but I would go AMD for PT LE.

Re: Well, the recording computer again.
I love MSI boards. I now have them in every computer that I am responcible for, and thats around 15 machines. I use MSI boards because, unlike Gigabyte, Asus, and Soyo, MSI boards have never crapped out on me in the last 3 years. I hate replacing motherboards so I now use MSI exclusively.

Re: Well, the recording computer again.
Nothing against MSI mobo's. Just remember that ProTools is very finicky about what it plays nice with. Check the thread on "Best Desktops" as Allen keeps the first page updated and just added the DFI Lanparty mobo.

My MSI-K8T Nero-2 works like a champ now that I have a 002r that works.
