Default Recording computer

Well I'm really considering buying the Sweetwater Custom Computing Creation Station 3.2GHz Rack Computer ( http://www.sweetwater.com/creation_station/rack.php ) but one thing, I would rather like to have an athlon cpu in it. Would I have to change the whole mainboard or is it enough to buy just a new cpu?

As a fellow European i would advise against bying such a machine. Get your machine locally. Go to the local PC-shop and have them build an Allenstein for you. The parts are easily available. If you want to get a machine ready made, go for Carrilion, as they also do business in Europe:

www.thomann.de or http://www.carillondirect.com

Building it yourself is MUCH cheaper. I build a machine for my brother in law for 700 Euro. That didnt include the monitor but still.

I would have to agree. Shipping is a nitemare. What if you have trouble with it? Ship it back to sweetwater? That would suck. If you build an Allenstein I bet it would smoke that creation station. Plus you can support a local business. Something I like to do as much as I can.

I've had my (digi recommended) Carillion AC-1, Core 2 for almost one year now. Definitely happy with it. As I've written in other posts, if you can build a computer and/or have a good friend who can help with tech support problem, great. You can probably save money having them build one for you. For me, the Carillion computer and their tech support were well worth the dough.
