I frankly don't understand how Sonnox still survives?
I own their outdated Elite HD bundle and never bothered to update it to AAX.
They have not a single unique plugin to keep prices at that high. The only one I upgraded to AAX was Dynamics as I do think its quite good mainly because of its ergonomics and functionality.
And I don't even speak about their transfer policy...

Same here. I have two plugins I still haven't updated from TDM/RTAS, Dynamics and EQ.

As it is they want two upgrades fees now as they won't let you go straight to the latest version

I'd like to have access to them at some point but for some reason I never upgraded. This must be the only plugin manufacturer I never got round to and I have a good few.

I'd probably like to have access to their sound at some point but I have a lot more cheaper options than stumping up for their pricey upgrades.

UAD hold the crown for putting a spanner in the transfer works though. I think Sonnox traditionally did well with post production facilities and the like but the writing is on the wall for expensive plugins.

Plugin Alliance and Waves are excellent, as indeed are SoundToys. Even Avid plugins are a far more sensible investment IMHO.

Yep Sonnox is an old dated Betty with transfers and is pricy....but they were the first Plugs I updated when I went to HDX.

The literal first ones

Inflator and Limiter on the master buss, as AAXDSP why yes please

I already had the EQ as AAXDSP.

They are the hardest to find a good deal on, but I did on all of them, should they be more accessible and cheaper yes....for sure

I am 100% in post production and never missed my Sonnox. I slammed the door on Waves many years ago before they became almost free...but I never came back, as again they are not unique IMHO. Have SOundToys bundle but never actually using them (I am in post). Avid plugins are free now when you have an HD subscription. And they are great especially their pro series.

Unique is not something I look for but functionality and sound. I've demoed several 'unique' plugins that quite frankly sucked. The only unique plugins I have are the Dent2/Indent2 Unfiltered Audio duo because they give me a growly sound that I have trouble getting elsewheres. Combine that with their very flexible modulation system and I'm good to go.

Other than that for at least non-synth wise functions I'm fairly traditional and like garden variety plugs. And as long as it functions in my daws of choice (PT & DP) on my computer what more can I ask?

Actually there is more I can ask and it would be neat if Dirk would conjure up emulations of the old Magnatone amps. There's not one amp sim that has them and considering the excellent job Dirk & people have done with the Bassman and ENGL 646 I have no doubt it would be killer.

I think I asked this earlier - has anyone gotten any emails from PIA about sales for this weekend? Looking at their site they have nothing new except for the subject of this thread.

This is brilliant.. i am fine that it works out more expensive than their sales in the case of some plugins, cause i get to pay $29 a month.. and i can choose ALL the expensive plugins that were never cheap enough to outright buy, like stage, opticom, all their new modelled "channels" and so on.

I get a $75 coupon monthly from them and always get their emails, but for some reason did not get any email about this, so I really want to thank the OP for this topic otherwise i wouldn't have even gone to their website till next month. I didn't even have anything to use the $75 on this month, as I have all the plugins that were on sale that i usually use the coupon towards.

$84 a plugin is not too bad at all..

I am not sure whether to wait one more month to two though, or if this is a permanent deal. Anyone know?

Right now i'd have to add 3 plugins i don't care about to complete the 10, but waiting to get the ones i really want would make more sense, as I am certain before long, they will put out 3 new must have plugins

Also got to say, this is a great deal for AAX DSP users, as many of the alliance plugins are in dsp format. Particularly good for those who need DSP amps to live monitor their guitars.

I can't say enough good things about this company these days..

I also want to give a shout out to their support department.. I had some transitional issues to pro tools as well as general sales questions, and all 4 individual support cases i started were thoroughly answered within 24 hours as were all ongoing replies. furthermore they actually read what i wrote and answered everything each time, rather than generic cut and past robot answers...

Plug in Alliance is one of the top 5 plugin devs as far as i am concerned.

Alliance/Softube/Waves/Kush-SlyFi/&FabFilter are my top 5 of all time, "overall",for native aax plugins.

Does anyone know how much latency the alliance DSP plugins have, and if most of them are suitable for real time tracking in HDX? That would make a strong argument for HDX for me considering how many of them I already own.. It's really not easy to find out this info and only someone that already has HDX can test them and report.. I might just start a new support ticket and ask, i am sure they'll reply! (ps if they do i will add it to the google spreadsheet on the forum that's been stickied).

Vanilla user here but I can't recall any of my PIA plugins having too many cycles to prevent tracking. I usually am running a 256 buffer at 44.1/24. I regularly use the guitar sims to track with and often have Black Box on the master. I'm sure AAX-DSP is even less right?

To be fair, the only two plugins I fail to track because of the latency are Waves LinMB and GW MixCentric.

AAX dsp latency of all any effect is different to it's native version counterpart.

I'll ask PIA and fill in the table when i know :)

Linear phase by it's very nature adds latency, certainly just not waves in that scenario :) You wouldn't be able to track with fab filter pro q2 either in linear mode, not nugen linear, and so on.

GW mixcentric.. eek... lol :) I won't use it for it's intended purpose let alone anything else.
