Default Mbox 2 mini not working after firmware update

Hello,I just brought a mbox 2 mini from someone 2 days ago and it was working but with alot of error messages. I attempted to upgrade the firmware but now it stopped working completely.I had the mbox 2 mini plugged into a usb hub during upgrade and I read after the mishap that the unit would become inoperable. Does this mean that the unit is no longer any good because I was updating thru a hub and not directly to a usb port ? If so I just wasted my money on another avid/digidesign interface that always has crazy issues. Is there a way to reset the interface or is it dead ? thanks in advance

Protools 8.03 installed on Imac G5 10.5.8 with mbox 2 mini interface

Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 4 GB

Default Re: Mbox 2 mini not working after firmware update

Since I spent the last 3 hours dealing with this issue, here's some potential help which I could not find anywhere else on the Avid forums.

Description of issue:
After attempting to install a firmware update (1.38) on an Mbox 2 mini, the mbox itself is not able to connect. The LED will not turn on, nor will the connection occur in the system preferences.

If you find yourself with an Mbox 2 (mini) that seems completely inoperable after a firmware update, try the following:

1. Delete the file named "DigidesignMbox2.kext" from the following location: Macintosh HD/System/Library/Extensions/
2. Reboot
3. Reinstall Pro Tools (after uninstalling)
4. Reboot

*this procedure should work for any mbox2 unit that has had the incorrect firmware update installed.

Voidsloth - you rule.

The process outlined works for the normal mbox 2 as well.
