Using S/PDIF Output with Focusrite Scarlett 8i6

I need some help getting the S/PDIF out to work in my set up.

I've connect S/PDIF cables from the S/PDIF out of the 8i6 to the S/PDIF IN on the left JBL LSR4326 and then connect a S/PDIF from the left monitor S/PDIF OUT to the right monitor S/PDIF IN. I then switched the JBL's to S/PDIF mode using the software.

Then, I selected S/PDIF Stereo out for an audio track I was testing with. Hit play..and nothing. No sound at all. Clearly there's some other step I'm missing but I can't figure out what. The PT Reference guide only talks about S/PDIF with respect to HD systems.

I have the I/O for the 8i6 set up properly...all the available INS and OUTS are showing, including the S/PDIF.

If I go back to selecting the usual MAIN outs for the 8i6, switch the JBL's back to Analog and play...its fine.

I also have a S/PDIF connecting audio out from my Motif XS8 to S/PDIF in on the 8i6, and that plays fine. I can record anything I play on the Motif using the S/PDIF out of the Motif to the IN on the Scarlett and setting up an audio track to read that input. So I know S/PDIF is working...at least on input side.

Not sure what I'm missing here. Can someone shed some light?

Never mind, I got it sorted. Just wasn't something obvious, but once I got and see it, it makes a bit of sense...sort of.
