Default 2 tracks roll into 1 on CD (how to)

A band I'm recording want 2 of their tracks to roll into one when they burn it to CD. So they are still 2 tracks which you can skip but when you play the CD through of their album the 2 tracks merge in to one. An example I can think of just off the top of my head is Green Days American Idiot where 3 or 4 songs would roll in to each other.

I hope I've made sense. I'll be using wave lab to master the tracks so is it possible to do it in here or is there and easier way

HI, while i am not familiar with Wavelab, basically this is done all the time with Live CDs. Its all one big track so the audience and banter between songs is heard, but you can press a specific number and go right to any song. DVDs also do this.

What you do is combine the two tracks as one track in your mastering software so they fade into each other as wanted. Then in your CD burning software, you should be able pull that double song track, and set where you want the CD index code for the number you want.
So say, track 1, track 2, track 3 ( double song with track 4 index inserted in the middle) track 5, track 6.

then it will play each song and the double song, or you can press 4 and the song will start in the middle of track 3 at the 4 marker.

You may need CD burning software if your mastering software wont let you add index numbers.

Maybe someone using Wavelab can chime in with a specific way in the software. You should be able to set the index codes where you want in that software.

Hi Chris yes this is exactly what I wanna do. Hope someone who uses wavelab could chime in

Check page 313 in the Wavelab 7 manual. You use markers.

2 ways to do it(I also use Wavelab). If its 2 separate tracks, go to Preferences and select 0 as the default time between CD tracks. Close Wavelab and re-open to make it "stick". The other method for if you have a single audio file is to drop markers and then modify them to be CD track markers(CD start in front of the first song and CD end at the tail of the last song). I am also digging Sony CD Architect lately and it allows you to simply drag the audio files and eliminate the gap(default 2 seconds) or drag a file over another and create a cross-fade. Both programs are capable, but Sony seems a bit easier on this feature.

In the Wavelab CD window, if you click the + symbol it expands the view to show you the pre-pause for the track. You can edit the pause for each track individually.
