Video not working in Pro Tools 11
Hello
Video playback is not working on Pro Tools 11.0.1 HD software on my Mac Mini 2012 model with 16 gb ram. When I try to play the quick-time movie, it says "unable to create thumbnails on video-track". I restarted the mac, and now I was able to play the video, hovewer, the screen was only black. I managed to play the same video-file in Pro Tools 10 without problems. Could you help me troubleshoot? Thanks, Morten |

Re: Video not working in Pro Tools 11
Is your video track set to frames or blocks? Blocks has been the more efficient way to work in previous versions.

Tried both frames and blocks, same result.

Re: Video not working in Pro Tools 11
Where is the video file located? What codec does this video file use?

Re: Video not working in Pro Tools 11
The videofile is located in the same folder as the audiofiles, on an external Lacie harddrive.
The codecs used is: H.264, Linear PCM, Timecode. The video was imported from my Canon XA10 camera using Final Cut. |

Re: Video not working in Pro Tools 11
After some more testing I did manage to play some videofiles in the Quick-time format, but with about half the video-files I got this error-message: "the video engine was unable to create thumbnails for the video track". After I got this message, I could no longer succeed in adding another video to the project. Does anyone else share this experience in pro tools 11?

Re: Video not working in Pro Tools 11
ok I think I found the reason, it is one of the issues here:
http://akmedia.digidesign.com/suppor..._Mac_79809.pdf "H.264 video files over 2 GB play back incorrectly (PTSW-158646) At a certain point during playback, an H.264 video file over 2GB in size will incorrectly restart playback from the beginning, even though the timeline indicates it is not playing from the beginning. The workaround is to place an edit (break) in the video clip prior to the point it starts playing incorrectly from the beginning. This issue only affects H.264 files larger than 2GB." |

Re: Video not working in Pro Tools 11
Possibly, though I think the problem might be that these files are H.264. You could try converting them to ProRes or DNxHD and see if that is an improvement.

Re: Video not working in Pro Tools 11
yes, these videoes are mostly concert-recordings and can be 10 gb or longer.
Unfortenately, creating break-points didn't help. Will try to convert to another format later. |
