Default surround... for older system

We have an older PT system (Protools 4.3, 16-bit w/ an 888 I/O module).

As a small college, we can't afford the latest/greatest, but still want to tome surround mixing. Would the "Dolby Surround Tools" pulgin ($795) be of use???

I've experimented with simple surround mixes by simply automating pans and assigning them to discrete channels, but this is a pain... and want something that would make this part easier. null

Hi,

I'm not sure if it's compatible with PT4.3 but why don't you try out Kind of Loud's Smart Pan Pro? If you don't need to encode but just want to be able to create surround mixes then this is your thang.

Check it out at www.kindofloud.com.

Good luck!

It looks like Smart Pan will work on older systems... and I downloaded the 6-day demo... and will try it out. Thanks.
