PT12.5 Does NOT fix GUI Lagging as it proclaims
Hi I am one of the many experiencing serious GUI lagging issues in ProTools when using proprietary (Avid/AIR) plugins. 12.5 proclaims to fix theses issues however it does NOT. Hindsight being what it is, I fully acknowledge that all of my recent Pro Tools issues could have been prevented by simply NOT upgrading to Yosemite.
Blessing in disguise with all of this is that Application Manager stopped working :) -Ryan iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) OSX El Capitan 10.11.4 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB PT 12.5 Interface: Roland QuadCapture |

Mine tends to lag even when the compressor isn't doing anything. I don't even bother signing in to the Application Manager anymore. I got so sick of being reminded my subscription - the one I've actually renewed - was due to expire. |

Re: PT12.5 Does NOT fix GUI Lagging as it proclaims
Yep. Same issue I am having. According to other users (I personally have not tried this) this only occurs using Avid Plugins, which since I am still just starting out, is what I have to rely on. From scouring the forums I see this has been an issue for many since ProTools 11. Yet there is still no fix for it. But at least they've crammed other new buggy features (Cloud Collaboration) in. Heaven forbid someone open a compressor while collaborating on the cloud, a black hole may open up. Lesson learned, the hard way for sure. Mark my words as SOON as I get a chance I am jumping off the Avid train. I'm tired of sacrificing stability for new buggy features.

Re: PT12.5 Does NOT fix GUI Lagging as it proclaims
I've noticed editing MIDI in 12.5 to be very sticky.
Like moving in mud. Went back to 12.3.1... unless someone has a solution.

Happens with Waves ones too.. maybe something to do with rendering the gain reduction meter? |

Can't even blame Yosemite on this one. Happening on Mavericks as well. The problem is 12.5, not the OS. Smh!

Not upgrading to YOSEMITE? or El Cap? Your signature says El Cap.

Re: PT12.5 Does NOT fix GUI Lagging as it proclaims
drguitar: When I first started experiencing stability issues with ProTools it was after updating to Yosemite.
I talked with ProTools Support and got this for an answer: "We do currently have this issue tagged as a bug (AAX-1283) and it should be resolved in a future software update. The root cause of the issue has been identified and we are working on the fix. Please keep your software up to date as new Pro Tools releases come out and the graphical issue with the Dyn3 plug-in should be resolved shortly." |

Hard to tell where the problem really is, maybe a bit of both (OS *and* PT) But seeing how PT was working under Mavericks, I have to say it's kind of tempting to go back to 10.9 full time... I'll medidate on this during the weekend

Re: PT12.5 Does NOT fix GUI Lagging as it proclaims
I'm inclined to think the problem is more Avid/PT than anything else. I use a variety of different DAWs and software packages and ProTools is the only one that freaks out every time a new OS update is released. Hell, even Sibelius handles updates better than ProTools.
What I struggle with most is the idea that Avid seems to be perfectly ok having a buggy product on the market that is intended for professionals to use. What audio professional is going to continue to use a product that can't run a simple compressor without the GUI going nuts? What audio professional will want to continue to update a product with known bugs because the company says that " it SHOULD be resolved in a future software update." It was supposed to be resolved in this software update, or at least it is advertised as such. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/r...-Release-Notes |
