Mute buttons refuse to stay on...?

For some reason my mute buttons, both audio and midi, are not staying on and muting for only a few bars during playback on a session in 6.4 that's using about 6 audio tracks and 14 midi tracks. I can't figure out what's causing this? Is there some preference setting for mutes that I'm not aware of? I need to be able to mute drum tracks as I'm doing a bunch of drum programming and I need to iso tracks.
I started a new session and used two midi tracks and an Aux. track to check to see if I could get them to stay on and it seems like they do....so I don't know what to make of this oddness.

Check the track's automation, you may have written mute automation in there somehow.

set the track to Mute, ( you know the blocks, waveform, Volume, Mute option) and I bet you have some mute points in the track somewhere, delete them all. and you will be able to stick mute on and off when you like

Sorry to be getting back to this issue so late....I'm now back to working on this session. Yeah, I set all the tracks to mute and sure enough there were mute nodes all throughout the tracks. Don't know how they got there though, I didn't put them there! So that's odd. Can mute nodes be put in just by dragging regions around?

If you have automation follows edit option enabled.
