Default Continuously Variable Track Height - crashing 8.0.1cs2 (PPC)

I don't usually use Continuously Variable Track Height in the edit window, but since migrating to VSL instruments, the need to edit multiple lanes of automation data all at once led me to start resizing the track height by simply dragging. THE PROBLEM is that I can pretty much guarantee a CRASH if I have

1. MIDI instrument track with at least one additional automation lane visible;
2. In any view (notes, region, midi volume, velocity, doesn't seem to matter) try to resize the main track "by simply clicking and dragging the lower boundary of the Track Controls column".

Crash. SPOD.

This has been happening in more than a few different session files.

Tried holding command for non-incremental sizing -- crash before it could do anything. Instant SPOD.

Anyone else ever experienced this?

I am mixing and don't feel like testing right now... but I will go back to using my trusted key commands (control-uparrow/downarrow) but I was hoping to use non-incremental track sizing. Hmmm. Bummer. The SPOD crashes suck when you're on a creative roll. This function is the only sure-way that I can crash PT 8.0.1cs2

Doctor it hurts when I do that.
So don't do that.

:-(

PTHD 8.0.1cs2
PPC mac G5 2.7, 8gb ram
hw buffer -- doesn't matter. Crashed when it was 256, crashed when it was 1024.

Can you get away with Shift-Option-Command-dragging?

doesn't do anything... not on the edit window track vertical height.

and just because I needed to punish myself, I tried to to the vertical drag just now, and of course, it works just fine now.

I think this crash is related to my system forcing me to take breaks and slow down. I wouldn't get out of the chair if the machine always worked perfectly. right?

;-)

It should continuously adjust track height on selected tracks only.

not for me. Shift-Option-Command-dragging does nothing for me in the EDIT window. I'd make a video, but I want to get back to my mix. When I need a break, I'll run video and try to crash this later. Thanks. J

continuously variable track height has not worked for me at all since PT 8. It just snaps to default sizes and won't change size when command-clicking
