Default PT Crash Changing sample rate

On Win 10, PT 12.7.1, Motu 16A I'm getting crashes every time I try to move between sessions at different sample rates.
Even if I close Pro Tools, then try to load session at a different sample rate, I can see the Motu clock briefly flick to whatever the sample rate of the last session loaded was.
Trashing prefs doesn't seem to help, the only work-around I can find is to create a new session at the target sample rate, close that and then open the other session.
Anyone else experience this?

Using your MOTU as the default Windows sound device?

For playback, no. For recording, yes as there is no other device to use.

What are you recording in Windows???
Your best bet is to un-designate your Pro Tools interface as a default Windows sound device.
Let Windows have the onboard sound card.

PT can be quite a diva when switching sample rates with some devices.

I use a SSL MX4 MADI card and also have issues when changing sample rates.

My workarround is:

Close the session in sample rate A
Switch Protools audio engine to PC integrated audio
Switch sample rate in my hardware
Switch back Protools audio engine to my hardware
Open session in sample rate B

I hope it helps!
