Default iLok Authorization Error

Hello,

I recently had an issue with a nonresponsive keyboard. In order to determine if this was a hardware or software problem, the Apple representative asked me to remove some startup items. I later moved them back into place, but doing this nonetheless seemed to create a problem: trying to start Pro Tools now gives me an authorization error, stating that 'Pro Tools 10 cannot run. Required software is missing or not running. Please reinstall the product, or download and run the install driver at paceap.com'

I went to the Pace website to see if I could reinstall their software, but I saw that it had all been replaced by the new iLok License Manager. I installed that, and it works fine and gets Pro Tools to open again - until I restart my computer, and again get the same error when trying to open PT. If I try to open the ILM after a restart, I also get an error message: "Server Connection Error. iLok License Manager seems to be installed incorrectly. Try rebooting and trying again, or visiting iLok.com and downloading the installer again."

If I delete the program, trash its preferences, and reinstall it, it will again work until I restart. I can't figure this one out... does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks a ton,
Gabriel

It's getting a little stranger... yesterday, X11 refused to open, also citing improper installation, and kept crashing on launch and promptly trying to reopen in an infinite loop. Force quit wouldn't get rid of it, I had to restart.

Today, I've had Coreaudio manager open for a while, and a second copy tried to open completely randomly. Again, it crashed on launch (citing an iLok installation error) and got stuck in a relaunch loop, but force quit worked to get rid of it. None of this affected the already open copy.

Question Re: iLok Authorization Error

This sounds like a permissions error. Have you repaired disk permissions?

Thanks for responding - I initially thought the same thing. I have, yes - even in Recovery mode. It didn't have any effect.

Hi froghawk,

Did you ever resolve this issue?
I am having exactly the same problems. I updated to the iLok License Manager and now have to reinstall every time I restart my computer. Most frustrating...
