So you are saying you want $999 to upgrade, and an additional $599 for a support plan for the privilege of now being screwed by your pricing IF you happen to release a new version within the year... Wow.

I snapped a copy off of ebay so no refunding. Whatever, this won't be the last time I get burned by a software company and I'm glad they are making the change even though I got burned as paying them 1000 every 15 months is not realistic.

Oh and the $600 support contract wasn't available before. I called sweet water and they told me that avid won't budge on the price and they knew nothing of the support contract. Of course what the meant was they wouldn't budge on the price. The whole thing was botched from the start and somebody lost their job over it so how pissed can I be?

Wow.
Good Bye Avid.
I think you pay the 600 instead of the 1k unless you got ****ed like me.

Please make sure I understand correctly: the PT HD 10 upgrade was about 1K but now Avid is instituting a rebate program/discount on the price of the upgrade (about a $300 discount) + one gets unlimited tech support until the end of 2011.

"Any customer who currently owns Pro Tools HD 9 is eligible to purchase the Standard Avid Support Plan for $599 until the end of the year. Once you purchase this from your dealer, you will be eligible to receive your Pro Tools HD 10 upgrade as part of the program.

So, if I buy into this plan, I get PT HD for $599 and complementary support until the end of 2011...right? you just dropped the price approximately $300 for any owner of PT9.

Max,

Can you please let Sweetwater know this ASAP? I was just told by my sales rep that they cannot find the SKU for the Avid Standard Support Plan that will include the upgrade to PT10HD.

So I think there is still a lot of confusion with your dealers....

Thanks!

Hi!
Great idea the 14 day trial, I'm waiting to try it. I'm ready for an upgrade! I saw some video from AES where Max Gutnik explains about the HDX exchange program, but no info on the Avid website. I would like to upgrade my HD Accel V8 to HDX V10.
